Ms. Sarah Kirikuwino is an accomplished leader in environmental advocacy and youth empowerment, currently serving as the President of the Laudato Si Clubs (LSiCs) under the Laudato Youth Initiative (LYI). In this capacity, she oversees the coordination of over 30 Laudato Si Clubs across schools, universities, parishes, dioceses, and communities. Sarah works collaboratively with the Executive Director and Programs Manager, and also fulfills the roles of Initiatives Secretary and liaison to the Laudato Si Action Platform in Rome.
Sarah creates strong collaborations with Club Patrons, Chaplains, and Mentors to establish and strengthen Laudato Si Clubs, delivering comprehensive leadership development for club patrons and leaders in alignment with the Laudato Youth Initiative’s Mode Operandi. Drawing on her extensive experience as a former club member and leader at the Laudato Si Club of Holy Cross Lake View, as well as her expertise in church media, fieldwork cinematography, and storytelling for Integral Ecology, Sarah actively guides and mentors emerging youth leaders across our Laudato Si Clubs network.
Her professional interests include journalism, youth leadership, behavioral change communication, indigenous wisdom documentation through storytelling, community engagement in sustainability and tree planting, media production, and climate action. She is a sought-after moderator for debates and meetings, an experienced Master of Ceremonies at Laudato Si Green Festivals (LSiGFs), and an active leader in our environmental restoration initiatives.
Sarah develops impactful content to inspire mindset change among youth and advocates for tailored resources that foster active participation in peacebuilding, sustainable development, environmental conservation, and the growth of Uganda’s tourism sector. She underscores the importance of faith-based values in driving positive ecological transformation and moral values.
She encourages members to actively engage with their environment and share their experiences to drive positive change. Sarah is dedicated to supporting youth skill development and has represented the initiative at prominent international forums, including the UN Climate Action Conference (May 2023), the Vatican Climate Resilience Summit (2025), and was honored as first runner-up for the Girl Earth Award (2024). Her work has earned her multiple recognitions and invitations to represent youth at major environmental programs, such as the Laudato Si Green Festival in Jinja, Uganda (July 2026).
Sarah is currently a student at Makerere University, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication with a specialization in Environmental Communication.
