The Season of Creation through its Visionary theme: Peace with Creation" Invites us to Create Peace with God, Nature and our Neighbors

30th Sept 2025. The Laudato Youth Initiative, in partnership with Bethany Land Institute, proudly launched three new Laudato Si’ Clubs at St. Kizito Primary School, Wakatayi Primary School, and Bukasa Roman Catholic Primary School. These clubs are more than green clubs they are a practical response and fruit of the Laudato Si Africa Conference where LYI and BLI committed to enhance ecological education from the grassroots; in communities, institutions and churches. From building green sanctuaries of learning of integral ecology, to uniting young people with the community for Climate Action, and transformation driven by the spirit of Laudato Si’ and inspired by voices from grassroots families to communities and institutions across Uganda and Africa responding to church’s call for everyones talent in caring for God’s creation but also carrying on Pope Francis’ ecological legacy.

What Is ‘Integral’ About Integral Ecology in the African Worldview?
Stories of Young African Voices Advocating for Ecological Conversion”. As Africa commemorates 10 years since Laudato Si’, this conference asked a fundamental question: Where is Africa in the story of integral ecology? LYI works to mobilize the youth and communities with adaptation initiatives waste management, agro‑ecological farming, community clean‑ups, and intergenerational ecological pilgrimages. These include ecological pilgrimages to shrines associated with ecology/St.Adolf our patron, game parks, and flood‑affected zones, building grassroots awareness and resilience through experiential learning and civic engagement all these are a good way to draw roadmaps of our ecological footprint.
We are interconnected and interdependence is crucial, as our food, air, water, and stable climate are all provided by the natural world. When ecosystems are damaged, these essential life-sustaining services are threatened, impacting the survival of both wild species and humanity itself

Inspired by Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’, BLI employs the notion and practice of Integral Ecology to empower local students and communities to combat three major challenges in Uganda: environmental degradation, food insecurity, and poverty.
