We are a non-profit Catholic Religious Youth-Led initiative in Uganda that promotes the encyclical Laudato Si’ and Enviromental Action to create more sustainable communities. Our activities and programs focus on responding to climate change through clubs in schools, universities, and dioceses.

Laudato Si’ uses flowers as a metaphor for the b

Laudato Si’ uses flowers as a metaphor for the beauty and inherent value of all creation, which is central to the encyclical’s message of integral ecology. It frames environmental protection as a moral and spiritual duty, connecting the loss of biodiversity, like forests, to the loss of future resources for food and medicine. Caring for flowers, forests, and all of nature is presented in Laudato Si as an act of reverence for the Creator and a crucial component of social justice.

Flowers and the value of creation likewise the “Canticle of the Creatures” which takes its title from Saint Francis of Assisi’s poem, which praises God through the beauty of creation, including the sun, moon, and stars, but also the flowers and “Sister Mother Earth”. We join our Laudato Si’ Club of Holy Cross Lake View S.S.S, together with the wider community of Jinja Diocese, in mourning the passing of our beloved Rt Rev Bishop Charles Wamika.

Bishop Wamika was not only a good shepherd but also a strong advocate for the care of our common home. A value is shared. The Laudato Si Club of Divine Mercy S.S.S. visited their sister school, Divine Mercy Nursery & Primary School, to share the urgent message of Caring for Our Common Home. They held an interactive session with the pupils, discussing:

* Reasons why young people must lead in environmental conservation
♻️ Simple ways to care for the environment
🚫 Harmful human activities to avoid
🏡 Eco-friendly practices to do at home
🌳 Tree species that help protect the ozone layer etc..

They concluded their visit by planting a memorial tree and donating various tree seedlings to beautify the school environment. This is true of the phrase “Everyone’s efforts are needed” from Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si #laudatoyouthinitiative #laudatosi

On October 10, the Laudato Si’ Club of Holy Cros

On October 10, the Laudato Si’ Club of Holy Cross Lake View proudly joined the Government of Uganda led by the Ministry of Water and Environment, through the Forestry Sector Department under the leadership of Dr. Alfred Okoti Okidi—in commemorating National Tree Planting Day.

This initiative aligns with the Laudato Si’ Youth Initiative (LYI) One Million Tree Planting Drive, which is being implemented through Laudato Si’ Clubs across schools, universities, parishes, and communities throughout the country.

Representing the Eastern Region, our Laudato Si’ Club of Holy Cross Lake View actively participated in this national effort to restore and protect our environment.

Saint Francis of Assisi, in the fulfillment of his evangelical life, confirmed by the gift of the stigmata, composed the Canticle of the Creatures, the eighth centenary of which we have just celebrated. It is the culmination of his journey of conversion and conformity to the Poor and Crucified Christ, where his gaze on the universe, now almost extinguished by illness and the trials of life, recalls for us that vision of 19 hope in which the world is something more than a problem to be solved; it is a joyful mystery that we contemplate in joy and praise. Young people committed to building a climate resil

Young people committed to building a climate resilience world. They understand that climate change is not just an environmental issue; it is a moral one. It calls us to work together, united across faiths and backgrounds, to protect our common home, which we all inherit. This truth is lived out powerfully in Nandere, and our Laudato Si Club at Wakatayi Primary School @bethanylandinstitute where youth are taking action and leading by example.

The launch of the Laudato Si’ Club at Wakatayi with @bethanylandinstitute was more than symbolic, it’s a living example of what interfaith action for ecological justice looks like:

Students will engage in activities such as tree planting, school clean-ups, water conservation, and environmental education.

Faith leaders from both Muslim and Christian communities have come together to bless the initiative, showing that care for creation transcends religious boundaries.
