We are a non-profit Catholic Religious Youth-Led initiative in Uganda that promotes the encyclical Laudato Si’ and Enviromental Action to create more sustainable communities. Our activities and programs focus on responding to climate change through clubs in schools, universities, and dioceses.

Our Season of Creation will be a beautiful time fo

Our Season of Creation will be a beautiful time for all our Laudato Si Clubs to reflect deeply on the themes of Peace and Hope for Creation, under our year long slogan: “Sowing Seeds of Peace and Hope for Creation.”

We will sow seeds of peace by engaging in interfaith dialogue, praying for peace, and build bridges for peace! We all need to be peacemakers in our communities.

We will nurture hope for creation by living out the spiritual message of Laudato Si – “Praise be to You!” – through music and prayer, as we give thanks to God for the gift of creation and for Laudato Si, the precious legacy Pope Francis has given to the Church.

We are also continuing our One Million Tree Planting Drive, and during this Season of Creation, we warmly invite you to join us in this mission. #LYI1MTreePlantingDrive

Pope Leo XIV invites the faithful to unite in prayer and fasting on 22 August for peace, and calls for a “disarmed and disarming peace” in all places torn by armed conflict.

Addressing the faithful gathered in the Paul VI Hall for his weekly General Audience, Pope Leo XIV turned his thoughts once more to the world’s many conflict zones. In recalling the upcoming liturgical commemoration of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is celebrated on Friday, 22 August, the Pope invited the faithful to celebrate that day by praying and fasting for peace. #pope #prayer for #peace @borgolaudatosi

Our Laudato Youth Initiative Programs Manager recently visited Mr. Male Joseph, Founding Director of Avail Fruits of Faith Farm. This visit marks an important step in our ongoing commitment to strengthening the involvement of our Laudato Si’ Clubs in climate-smart farming and agricultural innovation.

As part of this commitment, the Youth Initiative—through strategic partnerships—is looking forward to expanding and enhancing its practical, school- and community-based programs. These efforts begin with teaching young people the value of farming and its vital role in agriculture, the backbone of our country’s economy.

We commend Avail Fruits of Faith Farm for its dedication to empowering young people and promoting sustainable agricultural practices that align with the spirit of Laudato Si’.

We are excited to share with you that the 11th edition of Laudato Voices Magazine will soon be available online. This rich edition features powerful stories of ecological conversion.

Pope Leo has consistently drawn connections between environmental degradation and broader global issues, embracing the concept of integral ecology—a theme strongly emphasized by Pope Francis in his 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home. This edition highlights how the crises facing our planet—social, economic, and environmental—are deeply intertwined. The Laudato Youth Initiative is carefully walking in the footsteps of Pope Francis through our small “palms–big footprint” approach.

This edition also features our year-long theme, “Sowing Seeds of Peace and Hope for Creation,” which leads us into the Season of Creation. In our recently concluded Laudato Si’ Green Festival, we reflected on the interconnectedness of peace and the environment, recognizing that caring for creation is inseparable from the pursuit of justice and peace.

As we look to the vision of Pope Leo, we are challenged to hasten our commitment to a more sustainable and peaceful world. His leadership continues to inspire action rooted in faith, justice, and ecological responsibility.

From participating in online prayer activities, streaming Mass, and engaging with Catholic content on social platforms, to using storytelling, podcasts, and short videos to advocate for social justice, creation care, and spiritual growth, the younger generation is transforming digital media into a vibrant mission territory.

The Laudato Si Club of Holy Cross Lake View was honored to be visited by the Youth Chaplain of Fort Portal Diocese, Fr. Mugabyomu Paul, along with Fr. Augustine Sunday Atwooki from the Diocese of Jinja.

Fr. Paul encouraged our Laudato Youth (Stewards of the future) to remain prayerful and to extend the spirit of Laudato Si’—which they actively live out at school—to their homes and communities. He also reminded them to prioritize their safety and well-being during the upcoming holidays.

They shared a joyful moment to cutting a Lsudato Si Cake, celebrating both the club’s efforts during the recently concluded Laudato Si’ Green Festival 2025 and the successful end of Term 2. The evening concluded with a heartfelt prayer and blessing from the two visiting priests.

Faith in Action: Walking Green with Laudato Si’

As part of our commitment to integral ecology inspired by Laudato Si’, we recently led a vibrant and impactful Green Walk during our “Laudato Si Green Festival in Jinja” - a faith-driven initiative promoting environmental awareness and sustainable living.

Our walk stretched from Holy Cross Parish, Bugembe, to Holy Cross Lake View Secondary School, Musiima, bringing together learners, organizations and young leaders from across the region.

This wasn’t just a walk. It was a public call to action—an invitation for our communities to rise and respond to the “cry of the Earth” and the “cry of the poor.”

Key Goals of the action activity:
•To Promote ecological consciousness grounded in spiritual values
•To Engage youth and the community in practical climate action
•To Build a stronger bridge between faith and sustainability/ learning institutions and cooperate organizations

We believe the Church has a critical role in shaping a just, green future. And our youth are not just the future—they’re the now caretakers.

Celebrating the “Pilgrims of Hope” theme, the Jubilee invited youth to embrace hope rooted in faith and Gospel witness •

*Two Words to Carry Docility & Wonder*
Fr. Pincerato encouraged youths to fill their “backpacks” not with material goods but with openness to learning (docility) and awe (wonder) in their faith journey during the Jubilee .

*You Are Salt & Light*
Pope Leo XIV affirmed that young people are the salt of the earth and light of the world, called to bring hope, faith, and peace to the world through their voices and actions .

Be Signs that Another World Is Possible
In his closing Mass, the Pope urged the youth to become living signs of a possible world based on dialogue instead of violence, and committed to justice and solidarity with those suffering in conflicts .

On this special day, we lift up in thanksgiving and joy, Rev. Fr. Dr. Ronald Kawooya Atwooki, C.S.C., for the gift of his life and the profound impact he has had on our mission as Pilgrims of Green Hope.

From planting the seeds of our Laudato Si’ Club in hope at the parish model level, to guiding us with unwavering faith and wisdom, he has walked with us both spiritually and ecologically. His dedication to the message of Laudato Si’ and your commitment to nurturing our care for creation have inspired a generation to grow in faith and to embrace stewardship of God’s Earth.

As we celebrate his birthday, we also give thanks for his life during this Jubilee of the Youth. He has truly been a source of hope, leadership, and encouragement.
