Environmental Storytelling

Our excellence in faith-rooted environmental digital storytelling
What is Happening to our Common Home
We are witnessing the increasing frequency of climate-induced disasters such as prolonged droughts, floods, landslides, and soil erosion is driven by factors including poor waste management, deforestation, wetland and river encroachment, and rising pollution levels. These challenges are leading to the loss of ecosystems and biodiversity, reduced air and water quality, and significant threats to agriculture, wildlife, and human well-being. While youth unemployment continues to fuel poverty, equipping young people with practical skills that empower them to become job creators and turn their talents into sustainable sources of income is our focus.
Laudato Youth Initiative Call to Action
Through our Laudato Si’ Clubs we are mobilizing youth in institutions and communities for a unified action in response to the climate crisis. Our efforts include a One Million Tree Planting Campaign, Climate Smart Agriculture, and plastic waste reduction activities, for enhanced adaptation and resilience.
The trasformative impact of mobilizing young people is to enable collective knowledge sharing and access to mentors and fill the information knowledge gap

Agro Agriculture and Climate Smart Innovative Farming
Our stories are changing the narrative from merely identifying the problems to actively becoming part of the solution. Prolonged dry spells have left many young people malnourished, and countless families in the Eastern and Northern regions of our country are facing hunger. This has worsened food insecurity, a reason we prioritize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 13 (Climate Action) and 2 (Zero Hunger). We are committed to combating deforestation, raising climate change awareness, and ensuring that even refugee communities are included in this movement for environmental justice and resilience
We promote Technology based Community Awareness
From engaging in environmental dialioggues on the didital Media Space to organizing local campaigns that raise awareness about climate-smart technologies, to desiging simple model projects that technology to solve community environmental challenges like access to clean water, clean energy and creative problem solving.

We promote Eco Exibitions through our Laudato Si Green Festivals
Through our Laudato Si’ Green Festival, we create inclusive spaces where young people, elders, corporate organizations, and the wider community can engage in eco-technology exhibitions that showcase climate-smart innovations. The festival fosters intergenerational knowledge exchange and promotes practical, scalable solutions within our local means.
Laudato Youth Initiative focuses on Skilling Youth for Climate Smart Agriculture, Environmental Sustainability and building Resilience. “This is not just about encouraging young people to planting trees or talking about climate change,” Mr. Benard said. “It’s about equipping young people with the tools to transform their communities, generate income, and protect the planet.”
Our Hope is that the Governemnt will Enactment the Climate Change Act (2021)
A legislation that establishes institutional responsibilities and mandates the integration of climate change into national and subnational planning, providing a legal foundation for compliance in all institutions in Uganda.

Catholic Social Teaching and Caring for Creation
Catholic Social Teachings on the environment view the Earth as God's gift, our "common home," to be cared for with reverence and responsibility, recognizing the intrinsic value of all creation and its interconnectedness with human well-being. A central tenet is the call for an "ecological conversion," emphasizing that the suffering of the poor and the degradation of the environment are deeply linked. Key themes include human dignity, the common good, solidarity, and the duty to act for the benefit of future generations.
