July 11, 2026 has been officially designated as the date for this year’s Eastern Region
Laudato Si’ Green Festival. The carefully selected theme for the festival is:

"Environmental Conservation for Peace and Sustainable Development"

Laudato Si' Green Festival 2025 Themed: "Sowing Seeds of peace and Hope for Creation"

In 2023, the Laudato Youth Initiative pioneered the Laudato Si Green Festival as one of its programs conducted from regional to national levels. The aim was to bring together stakeholders, communities, and institutions through its Laudato Si Clubs to increase tree planting initiatives and promote deeper integration of environmental education into Uganda’s national curriculum. This began with engaging schools to establish local initiatives, ranging from students raising awareness through Green Walks, radio sentisation programs, short educational videos etc to showcasing environmental projects through eco-exhibitions on recycling, organic farming, solar energy, and plastic waste management—demonstrating innovation and a growing commitment to sustainability.

The program invites schools, churches, communities, and government bodies to enhance the preservation of biodiversity, promote green practices, and build a national culture of conservation.

The Laudato Youth Initiative has been conducting Green Masses on its Laudato Si Festivals to pray for people affected by climate change. This formulary strengthens our efforts and has given us a sense of direction for our prayer programs. We were happy to see the Liturgical Colors of the Days’ vestments were the same as our theme colors. Check the Link
