Laudato Club of..
Moreau Nursery and Primary School
The Laudato Club of Moreau innovatively responds to climate action with the “The Seven Practical Everyday Ideas model” to guide, support, and enlighten their journey as they care for God’s creation and reduce and mitigate the climate crisis. These ideas were carefully crafted through research of what is happening to our common home in their school and they came up with the seven-point model to inspire positive change and promote environmental conservation in their daily activities as club members but also for the school community and beyond.
Firstly, prioritize connecting with the outside world.
At Moreau, students and teachers actively engage with the natural environment outside the confines of the classroom. This connection fosters a deep bond with nature and encourages conservation efforts.
Secondly, turn to prayer.
As children of God, prayer is a powerful tool that can guide us through challenges and uncertainties. By seeking God’s mercy and guidance, we can cultivate a heart for environmental stewardship and inspire others to join us in protecting Mother Nature.
Thirdly, embrace the 4Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Restore.
Implementing these principles at Moreau has transformed our approach to waste management and sustainability. By disposing of waste responsibly, rejecting improper disposal practices, and reusing materials, we have created a clean and environmentally friendly space at our school.
Fourthly, we encourage learning from one another.
Each individual possesses unique talents and perspectives, which can enrich our understanding of environmental conservation. By sharing knowledge and experiences, we can collectively work towards a greener future.
Fifth, engaging in meaningful conversations about environmental issues is also crucial.
Through activities like poetry composition and debates, we raise awareness about the importance of caring for God’s creation and addressing climate change. “Reflecting on what is happening to our common home”.
Sixth, focus on one task at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
By prioritizing and dedicating time to each project, the Laudato Club at Moreau has successfully completed several initiatives like the green smart garden project, short video projects, Poems and achieved academic excellence through several projects of the club.
Lastly, collaborate with leaders, and fellow the Laudato Youth Initiative mentorship model.
By working together and supporting one another, they have accomplised great feats in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices.
