By Laudato Voices Social media is a powerful tool in our mission of storytelling for ecological conversion. It enables us to share meaningful stories, preserve the wisdom of our elders, and pursue our digital mission with purpose and passion. What sustains us in this space is faith and hope that calls us to unite young people for climate action, deeply rooted in Christian values.
This work goes beyond storytelling. It is about ecological conversion, deepening our faith, and growing in the spirit of Laudato Si’. We believe that our stories can change the narrative and inspire a future where a new generation of Laudato Youth rises from the land of the Martyrs to the rest of the world.
We see ourselves as young people determined to carry forward the ecological legacy of Pope Francis, not merely as environmental advocates, but as faith-filled witnesses. We are inspired by the courage of St. Adolf Tibeyalirwa Mukasa Ludigo, the patron of farmers and herdsmen, to care for our common home. Our work is guided by Catholic Social Teaching, the message of Laudato Si’, and the global call in SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) all brought to life in our unique African context of integrating the message of Laudato Si.
As Pope Francis said, young people are demanding change. Our initiative answers that call, it is a mission and a new way of living our faith, bringing the message of hope to a generation and communities trying to understand the crisis of Climate Change for some still belief its rhetoric but viewed in line with what is happening to our common home its a reality that all people are worried about . Through this mission, we are establishing Laudato Si’ Clubs, moving from words to action from simply sharing the message to living it daily. We have to communities who are first hand victims of climate change. Many young people who view this short film easily understand the magnitude of climate change and its likely consequences. Ley=t us fine out what is happening to our common home in brief film story captured to raise awareness. Let us know what you think after watching this video.
It is vital that we, as young believers and the Church, recognize social media as a new mission territory, a digital space that needs missionaries who will spread the Gospel, share stories of faith and hope, inspire ecological responsibility, and build a global community rooted in peace, unity and love. The beauty of our stories lies in their lived hope and in the invitation they offer to other young people to become witnesses of hope, bridge builders, and caretakers of a thriving common home where faith, creation, and community flourish together. We embrace the tool of Language as another opportunity to communicate to an audience that doesn’t read and write but can listen to radio programs.
