Laudato Si’ 10th Anniversary | Pope Francis’ Legacy of Green Hope
To mark the 10 years anniversary of Laudato Si, the Laudato Youth Initiative will conduct two major events. In Kampala archidiocese (Munyonyo Martyrs’ Shrine – Uganda Martyrs Basilica) and Fort Portal Diocese, ( Mukabura on going Formation Centre)
Day 1 – May 15 | Kampala
The Archdiocese of Kampala, in partnership with the Association of Religious in Uganda (ARU) Secretariat, and Laudato Si Centre Comboni and John Paul l Justice and Peace Centre – Laudato Youth Initiative will join the Universal Church to mark 10 years of Laudato Si and its impact. To celebrate this event, Kampala Archdiocese and the partners have organized a two-day Laudato Si Encounter which will take place at Uganda Martyrs Basilica, Munyonyo. The purpose of this two days’ event is to; Pray, Listen, and Share on the fruits of the first 10 years of Laudato Si and dialogue on the hopes and actions required now and in the coming years. As Pope Francis reminds us, “Interdependence obliges us to think of one world with a common plan” (LS 164).
Our Participation will involve
Presentations and Panel discussions will focus on Legacy of Pope Francis as Pilgrims of green and assessing the Laudato Youth role in shaping Catholic Environmental Action and Advocacy as a way to evaluate and celebrate the positive impact of the journey towards an intergral ecology that will keep the message of Pope Francis alive in Uganda thus establish concrete steps to impact Uganda society and inpire the rest of the world calling on more people to participate in this noble cause.
Day 2 – May 16 | Kampala
Laudato Youth ( Laudato Si club of Holy Cross Lake View S.S.S and Go Green Laudato Si Club of Nairobi) will showcase an exhibition of items and tools developed in preserving Mother Earth. These Exhibitions will feature Spiritual and Science Environmental Projects;

Holy Mass led by the Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, followed by a keynote note address on Laudato Si, speeches by selected speakers (religious and government officials), and testimonies.
