About Laudato Youth Initiative
Uniting Youth for Climate Action
Our activities and programs focus on responding to climate change through clubs in schools, universities and dioceses. Our main activities are tree planting & green zone creation, climate education, Laudato Si training/seminars, and sustainable environmental projects. The growing concern about the ecological crisis prompted the Laudato youth initiative. We were quite sad to witness several environmental abuses in our communities during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown. The changing weather patterns have intensified the sadness and concern due to the increased frequency of extreme weather events like drought, floods, mudslides, social and economic impacts that make communities vulnerable.

What is happening to our common home?
Pope Francis embodies two attributes associated with St. Francis of Assisi - care for the poor and love of creation. The earth is our common home. We are just beginning to awaken to this truth. We invite you to begin to seeing creation as a precious gift that has been entrusted to us, or will we see it as a "resource" to be used well but not exploited with destruction. #theletter#laudatosi5 #Whatishappeningtoourcommonhome

Garbage Clean Up | Tree Planting & Community Sensitization
Taking care of our environment is a collective responsibility that starts with proper waste management. By reducing, reusing, and recycling, we can minimize the amount of waste that ends up in landfills or polluting our land and Water. Community engagement plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable practices. When we work together towards a common goal, we can achieve so much more. Encouraging everyone to participate in clean-up drives, recycling programs, and educational campaigns can have a significant impact on our environment.
The Letter
A better future is in our hands.
Pope Francis wrote an “encyclical letter”–a short book that popes write–called Laudato Si’. It encourages us to see how “everything is connected.” The way we treat the Earth, our common home, is a reflection of how we treat each other. Caring for each other means caring for the home we share.
