As the President of the Laudato Club at the prestigious Mountain of the Moon University, I am thrilled to share with you our esteemed readers some exciting experiences of my involvement with the Laudato Youth Initiative and our recent joint activity with Absa in our mission to take action, inspire and Unite Young People for Climate Action thus promoting environmental action response, raising awareness about climate Change and creatively engaging in sustainability activities around our university, uniting with others for action

Doreen and a team from Absa Bank plant a tree at Mountains of the Moon University Campus

One of the most significant developments within our club is our recent collaboration with Absa Bank in a tree-planting campaign which can be seen as a contribution to the one million tree campaign. Recognizing the vital role that trees play in combating climate change and preserving our ecosystems, we have planted a substantial number of trees in and around our campus. This initiative not only enhances the beauty of our surroundings but also contributes to the restoration of the natural environment, providing numerous ecological benefits and creating a healthier atmosphere for all. Our partnership with Absa Bank showcases our commitment to making a tangible impact on the environment and working towards a greener future.

In addition to our collaboration with Absa Bank, we have also joined forces with other environmental agencies to amplify our impact. By partnering with like-minded organizations, we can pool our resources, knowledge, and expertise to tackle pressing environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change more effectively. These partnerships have enabled us to engage in a broader range of activities and initiatives, including awareness campaigns, clean-up drives, and educational programs. By working together with other environmental advocates, we are able to make a greater difference and create a more sustainable future for all.

As member and Leader of the Laudato Club at Mountains, I urge each and every one of you on behalf of all our members and University community to become ambassadors of change. The future of our planet is in our hands, and it is our collective responsibility to protect and preserve it. Simple actions such as reducing our carbon footprint, conserving water and energy, and engaging in sustainable practices can make a significant difference. By actively participating in the activities and initiatives of the Laudato Club, sharing your ideas, and contributing your time and skills to our projects, you can help create a ripple effect of positive change that extends far beyond our campus.

I am proud of the dedication and support shown by our members, and I am confident that together, we can inspire others, raise awareness, and drive meaningful change in the environmental landscape. Thank you for your continued commitment to our mission. Let us embrace our role as guardians of the Earth and work towards a sustainable future for generations to come.
